Lancaster Beam approach
Switch ( Nos 1 Electrical Misc pg 1)

An early
brass beam approach control switch as fitted in Lancaster's
and other heavy RAF Bombers.
Beam Approach Beacon
System (or BABS) is an
automatic RADAR landing system developed in the early 1940s.
It is a responder
(or transponder) mounted in a Hillman and placed at the end
of the runway. It was interrogated by Rebecca mounted
in an aircraft. It responded by transmitting dots on one
side of the runway and dashes on the other. The strength of
the reception in the aircraft's depended on the aircraft's
position relative to the centre line of the runway. The
aircraft's equipment could then determine its position
relative to these dots and dashes.

Bosch Anlass WW1
Starting Magneto ( Nos 38 Electrical Misc pg 1)
Here we have a very Rare
Bosch Starting Magneto. I have researched the serial number
and i have found that this example is a very early one
dating from 1904.
Bosch Anlass-Magnet
Serial Number 73085

These were
fitted to the LHS of the Cockpit and attached to a magneto
starter switch.
as used in almost all German and Austrian-Hungarian WWI
aircraft cockpits. Turning the crank handle would generate a
strong electrical spark to the ignition wires to "boost" the
engine start-up.
The
handle turns but we have not been able to test it. We will
test it upon request

Bomb Fusing Unit
( Nos 2 Electrical Misc pg 1) Inside
is an electro mechanical solenoid which when energized,
holds onto a fusing wire (fitted to the bomb), which in turn
has a shear wire built into it and this removes the safety
pin from the arming vane of the bomb, allowing the vane to
rotate and arm the fuse when clear of the aircraft
If
the fusing unit isn't energized, the wire pulls out of the
unit and the fuse will not arm the bomb. This would be the
case if the pilot decided to jettison the bombs safe.
