The Mosquito took on every major role demanded of it shown under in its guise as a night fighter.

Mosquito Undercarriage indicator (pg3 ins)

This is an undercarriage indicator for the Mosquito, this instrument is specific to the Mosquito and is a very rare find. Rare in its own right it functions as it should, it has the additional benefit of being dated 1942 and is an early metal version being fitted to the very first operational MKs of the Mosquito. A little known fact is that the Mosquito could carry a 4000Lb Bomb the same payload as the Boeing B17.

Herman Goring head of the Luftwaffe was a fan of the Mosquito and had this to say about it.

"In 1940 I could at least fly as far as Glasgow in most of my aircraft, but not now! It makes me furious when I see the Mosquito. I turn green and yellow with envy.

The British, who can afford aluminium better than we can, knock together a beautiful wooden aircraft that every piano factory over there is building, and they give it a speed which they have now increased yet again. What do you make of that?

There is nothing the British do not have. They have the geniuses and we have the nincompoops. After the war is over I'm going to buy a British radio set - then at least I'll own something that has always worked."

Hurricane Compass Card Holder (pg3 ins)

This is an original compass card holder attached to a piece of panel. Made in brass its alledgily from a MK I Hurricane ZN 504 of 46 Squadron. This written on a label on the back of the piece. As I have no way of authenticating this it is sold as a spare part only with no guarantee of authenticity attached. There is damage to the top right corner but this should be fixable with a bit of solder. The card holder is made from brass and has the remains of a card inserted. A new card will be supplied with the purchase.

Contacting Rev counter (pg3 ins)

This is a really unique item a contacting rev counter. I have never seen one of these before, it is definitely wartime as it has a Kings crown stamped on the back so manufactured before 1944. This may be for a test aircraft as a contacting unit usually activates an audible warning when a pre set limit is reached war, contacting altimeters are used on dive bombers to warn the pilot when its time to pull out of a dive so this may have a similar function by warning the pilot a pre set RPM limit has been reached.

Target Towing RPM Gauge Mk XIV (pg3 ins)

I noticed on your site an R.P.M counter with the stores reference Air Ministry 9A/1331.  This was fitted to the Type B Target Towing Winch which was fitted to numerous aircraft including the Defiant TT.I & TT.III, Martinet, Battle and Henley to name just a few.  I have attached a photo showing the instrument in place.

RAAF Oxygen regulator (pg3 ins)

A wartime oxygen regulator used by the wartime RAAF. I have never seen one of these before, the Canadian built aircraft including the Hurricane did different oxygen regulators in the USAAF style but I did not know the RAAF had variations. I am not sure what this is fitted to but is similar in look and design to the British made MKVIII usually fitted to most RAF fighters.

I know this site gets a lot of visits from Australia so if anyone can offer more information this will be gratefully received. email me
